10 Point Plan for Health Care Reform

Facing our National Health Care Crisis

What’s wrong with health care – nationally and here, in our State?

Not only does Louisiana rank dead last in many indicators related to health care, so does America when compared to the rest of the industrialized world. In our “New Blueprint for Health Care Reform” we identified “top drivers” of the crisis, including:

  •  Diseases we fail to prevent,
  • Chronic illness that progresses to preventable complications,
  • Treating patients with duplicative and ineffective care,
  • Failing to cover everyone, and
  •  A significant “hidden tax” due to cost shifting from uncompensated care.

Our plan converts the “Blueprint” into measurable objectives. Our plan does not impose any mandate on employers to provide group health insurance or pay anything toward group or individual health insurance coverage. The members of LHCA/LBGH wholeheartedly endorse enabling employees to use their own money, pre tax, to purchase coverage or simply pay for the care they need.  The minimal requirements of this plan are designed to do that and more.
